Let go

A child shoved his hand in the opening of a very expensive Chinese vase. When he could not pull it out again he raised a frightful cry. His parents tried desperately to help the child, but they also could not remove the boy’s hand from inside the vase.

Finally, there was nothing left to do but to break the beautiful, expensive vase. And when the father smashed it with a hammer blow, it became clear why the child had been hopelessly stuck. His fist grasped a mere quarter which he had seen in the bottom of the vase. He had grabbed it tightly, and in his childish ignorance , was unwilling to let it go.

..

字彙
Shove
Smash
Quarter
Ignorance
